Plazhi Publik i Shirokës

Plazhi Publik i Shirokës isn't on the sea at all — it's a public swimming stretch on Lake Shkodër, in the village of Shiroka just outside the city, where the water is fresh, calm and considerably cooler than the Riviera in August. The lake here is better known for its string of terrace restaurants serving carp and other freshwater fish than for its beach scene, so expect a low-key, mostly local crowd rather than sunbed rows. No Google review history yet, but the setting — Balkan mountains rising across the water — is reason enough to swing by on a day trip from Shkodër.
