Ksamil consistently wins for that "Caribbean turquoise" effect — the four small islets create shallow lagoon-like water. Gjipe Beach (hike-in only) and Filikuri (boat-only) are runners-up with the bonus of fewer crowds. Pulëbardha and Kakome are quieter alternatives in the south.
Many are excellent for families. Shëngjin, Velipojë and Borsh have long shallow sand beaches ideal for kids. Most Riviera pebble beaches drop off quickly — better for confident swimmers. Lifeguards are present at major Adriatic and beach-club beaches in season but not on hidden coves.
Comfortable (22–26 °C) from late June to mid-September on the Riviera. May–early June is fresh (18–20 °C) — bracing but swimmable. Adriatic coast (Durrës, Shëngjin) is 1–2 degrees cooler than the Ionian Riviera. October still works for hardy swimmers.
