Around Langarica Canyon

The route threads the limestone gorge carved by a Vjosë tributary near Benja, looping past the hot springs where locals soak year-round and the humpbacked Ottoman bridge that has spanned the canyon for centuries. Base camp is Gjirokastër's stone old town, roughly forty minutes by car, but the trailhead feels like a different Albania — pine-shaded, sulphur-scented, quiet outside August. Moderate footing over rock and gravel suits fit walkers rather than technical climbers, and the May-to-October window avoids winter flooding in the ravine.
