Why Durrës?

Durrës is the second city — a Roman amphitheatre tucked downtown, a 10 km sandy beach, and the country's main ferry port. Less for slow travel, more for an easy beach week or a day trip from Tirana.

Beach hotels north along the Lungomare; old town for character.

What to eat

Seafood at the port; Vila Verde for upmarket; beach shacks for fried fish.
