Maja e Partizanit

Maja e Partizanit climbs one of the ridges above Berat, the town whose stacked white Ottoman houses earned it the name City of a Thousand Windows, and the summit — named for the wartime partisans who once held ground up here — looks straight down over the castle and the Osum river gorge. It's a marked route rather than a technical climb, popular with people staying in Berat's old town who want a half-day away from the museums and stone streets. Go May through October, when the path is dry and the views aren't fogged in.
