Avoiding the crowds — why September is the new July
August has officially become uncomfortable on the Riviera. The smart move is to shift to September — same sea temp, half the people.

Riviera tourism in August now feels like the Greek islands ten years ago — busy parking, restaurant queues, packed beaches. The fix is simple: shift two to three weeks later.
What September gets you
- Sea: still 25 °C.
- Air: 27–30 °C.
- Hotels: 30–40% cheaper.
- Beach clubs still open through mid-month.
- Wine harvest in Berat, fig harvest along the coast.
What you lose
- Some smaller beach bars start closing late September.
- Festivals (Kala, ION) are a June–early August thing.
