Bora Bora borrows its name from the French Polynesian icon for an obvious reason — Ksamil's shallow, turquoise water and scattering of tiny islands offshore genuinely earn the comparison, at least on a calm, sunny day. The shoreline here is a sand-and-pebble mix rather than the postcard white sand the name suggests, and being part of Ksamil's tourist circuit means it shares in the area's summer crowds and boat traffic to the islands. Still, the water colour is the real draw, and reviewers who've been to Ksamil generally understand exactly why a beach here would borrow that particular name.
