Albania rewards travellers who match their base to the day's plan rather than booking one hotel for the whole trip. The country splits neatly into a handful of very different regions, and where you sleep shapes what you actually experience.

Tirana — pick your neighbourhood

Most trips begin in the capital. Stay in or near the centre for walkable access to Skanderbeg Square, the museums and the Pazari i Ri market.
